Wendi has taught yoga in San Francisco for 30 years. She studied at the Ananda Yoga Ashram and is certified by IAYT as a Yoga Therapist. Yoga includes postures, breathwork, study and meditation. The theories and practices help guide us at every level of our life experience. They are designed for reduction of suffering and development of our capacity for awakening in body, mind, and spirit. Ongoing weekly class is currently online and is open to new students. In private consultations you can request postural feedback, training in breathwork and meditation, or applications of yogic practices and teachings to address your current life experience in a holistic way.
Authentic movement is a formal practice of moving from inner impulse with eyes closed in the presence of a witness. Wendi has practiced authentic movement since 1985 in dyads, groups and in private sessions. She relocated to the Bay Area to attend the Authentic Movement Institute where she completed 4 years of study and has been teaching the form to individuals and groups for two decades.
This beautiful and powerful practice brings us into direct relationship with the inner witness as we risk to explore the body in its deepest capacity for consciousness. Developmental patterns, attachment, emotion, (her)story, energetic phenomena, contact with the divine...in this form we move and are moved by it all. Held by the awareness of a compassionate other we deepen our ability to remain authentic and unfold through the body toward wholeness.
Please contact Wendi if you may be interested in learning more about this form, joining a group, or having private sessions. Groups are currently accepting new members.
Wendi completed 3 years of advanced training with Michael Harner at the Foundation for Shamanic Studies and is certified in the Harner method of shamanic counseling. She teaches the journey technique to individuals interested in accessing a direct relationship with wisdom, healing and personal power. This traditional technique has been practiced in cultures on every continent throughout time. It is being revived for the healing of individuals and the planet after suffering centuries of decline as the movement of opportunistic fundamentalists decimated populations of traditional peoples and practices throughout the world. Private sessions and collective gatherings are available.
Wendi received her training at the Tamalpa Institute under Anna and Daria Halprin, both world renowned leaders in the expressive arts field. She was certified to teach the Tamalpa Life/Art process in 2003 and has been leading yearly groups in San Francisco for 22 years.
Wendi teaches a movement based expressive arts form that engages nature, ritual, art-making and metaphor to connect us with life in a deeply meaningful way. It is open to all people regardless of experience with any of the media. Beginners are always welcome. If you are interested in an approach to change that could awaken your creativity and consciousness in the studio and in life, please feel free to contact Wendi. Private sessions are available now or you can indicate if you might like to participate in a group when openings arise.
Somatic Experiencing is a theory and highly effective technique developed by Dr. Peter Levine to address symptoms of trauma in the nervous system. In her early career as a witness to embodied experience Wendi observed these nervous system patterns and sought training and certification in Somatic Experiencing through Somatic Experiencing International so that she might better understand and address the experience of trauma as a body based phenomenon. She brings this training and sensitivity to her teaching, helping clients and students to identify and integrate new resources and release patterns that no longer serve.
